With support from:
2. BERLIN KIEZGIPFEL on 11 September - start at 1 p.m. - in front of the red town hall
Come and actively shape the change in Berlin!
today city tomorrow!
The 2nd Berlin neighborhood summit was developed co-creatively by all initiatives. KIEZconnect took over the moderation and project coordination.
After the 1st Berlin neighborhood summit took place last year, this year the 2nd Berlin neighborhood summit will take place with a broader and larger alliance. For half a year we thought about what we wanted to do together with many initiatives and Berliners. The result was the idea of a large moderated meeting in front of the Red Town Hall, where we all want to talk respectfully, at eye level and in a good atmosphere: those who are already active, those who are newly interested, the many (neighborhood) initiatives and also people from politics and administration . We have developed a common demand and - for a broad civil society image - put together many demands. Because the many cross-district initiatives and their demands, as well as the many neighborhood and neighborhood initiatives, show that a lot has to change in Berlin and that we have to think together. And much faster and more practice-oriented than before. But how could this "significantly faster" look and succeed? We want to talk about this and look for common solutions. The moment has come to get active and DO something together.

DEMAND THE KIEZGIPFEL INITIATIVES: One for all - all for one Berlin is colourful, lively and diverse and home to almost 4 million people from over 190 countries around the world. The great cultural diversity and the ability to constantly reinvent oneself are faced with huge problems: housing shortages, increasing traffic chaos, discrimination against minorities, loneliness ... In addition, heat records in summer are increasingly endangering health, water is becoming scarce - Berlin is hardly there yet prepared for the consequences of the climate crisis. A livable, just and solidary city can only come about if all its residents can actively and directly participate in its development. In our neighbourhoods, there is limited citizen participation and scope for urban design, where competence, creativity and commitment are brought in for the benefit of all, but others have an influence on the higher political decision-making levels: organized lobby groups, which only represent private interests - and the common good like to lose sight of. We want to counteract this imbalance! In order to master the opportunities and challenges of our city, more direct co-determination of movements, initiatives and individual citizens is needed. We need the hands and minds of all Berliners for our neighborhoods! Participation Now! we want to talk And want to act together! The needs of the people are still not sufficiently listened to by the politically responsible. The neighborhood initiatives are closer to the reality of life and can build bridges in administration and politics - for the benefit of all. But they have to be heard, taken seriously and encouraged! Participation and co-determination must not remain the privilege of a minority. That's why we're gathering today for the Berlin neighborhood summit. Many organizations come together and bring their demands with them. We are all united by the goal of climate-friendly urban development and a fairer urban society. For Berlin's future viability, it needs environmentally friendly mobility, climate-friendly construction, affordable housing, a fairer distribution of goods and a declaration of war against racism and discrimination. There are exciting solutions and many skills in the neighborhoods for all of these topics. We must seize this opportunity! We demand more transparency where economic interests and politics are too closely intertwined. We demand constant and direct forms of participation for the city dwellers: live on site in the neighborhoods in order to strengthen our democracy, enable participation and find viable solutions to the problems of our city. Our goal is cooperation between politics, administration and civil society on an equal footing so that Berlin can be a city for everyone.

brief statements
Procedure for the neighborhood summit 1 p.m. Start and street opening All initiatives arrive Immediately afterwards, all rallies with solution approaches take place. Then we come together in 3 parallel meetings of the Berliners, the neighborhood and neighborhood initiatives and the organizations. This is followed by the big plenum with politics and administration at around 4 p.m. with everyone - at which we want to develop solutions together. The content is expected to end around 6 p.m. The street is closed for pedestrians at around 8 p.m. The Open Dreams Berlin-Brandenburg initiative has a little surprise for us.
